Students Volunteer at Soup Kitchen

Students from Morrison Tech spent Friday, April 7 volunteering at the Café on Vine soup kitchen in Davenport, Iowa.
In addition to helping serve lunch to the soup kitchen’s guests, the group did some outside spring cleaning around the facility, filled bags with candy for a special event and unpackaged boxes of coffee mugs that had been donated to the organization.
Café on Vine, established in 2007, provides a free, lunchtime meal to the needy of the community 365 days each year. It is the only meal site in the Quad Cities to do so. Since its founding, the soup kitchen has served more than 425,000 meals. Anyone can have a meal at the facility.
“We were glad that the Morrison Tech students were able to help out today,” said Waunita Sullivan, the soup kitchen’s executive director. “We rely on volunteers for everything we do and appreciate these students’ time today. We hope they will come back sometime in the future.”
