Change in Financial Circumstances

Morrison Tech understands the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) uses income information from two years ago and this may not accurately reflect your family’s current situation.  If you or your family has experienced a significant decrease in income after your FAFSA has been submitted or other major financial changes not reflected on the FAFSA, you can request a professional judgment reevaluation.  Professional judgment allows the Financial Aid Office to adjust certain elements of the FAFSA to account for Special and/or Unusual circumstances when determining your eligibility for financial aid.

Contact the Financial Aid Office to explain the details of the special/unusual circumstance and discuss the supporting documentation required.  Special circumstances are considered on a case-by-case basis.  Not all circumstances qualify for reevaluation.  Submitting an appeal does not guarantee an adjustment will be made or that additional financial aid will be offered.

Below are a few examples of circumstances that we may affect your financial aid eligibility:

  • Loss of job
  • Income reduction
  • Divorce or separation
  • Death of parent
  • High medical/dental bills not covered by insurance
  • High costs of insurance premiums
  • Reduction/loss of income (child support, alimony, social security, worker’s compensation)
