Morrison Tech Sets Aside Engineering Tech Day for Home Educated Students
For over ten years, Morrison Tech has been hosting 7th Grade Engineering Tech Experience Days. These events are designed to showcase the various activities that engineering technologists and network administrators engage in as part of their roles. Students participate in hands-on sessions covering topics such as building design principles, the design process and prototyping, microcontroller programming, robotics, manufacturing, construction materials, land surveying, and engineering bridge design. In addition to the technical activities, students develop important skills like collaboration, problem-solving, creativity, and critical thinking.
This year, Morrison Tech is excited to announce; for the second year in a row, that Friday, March 21, 2025, will be dedicated exclusively to homeschooled 7th and 8th-grade students. The event is free of charge, though donations are welcome. Students only need to bring their own lunch.
The day will start at 8:45 a.m. and end around 2:15 p.m. It will begin with a welcome session and an introduction to the college. Afterward, students will participate in four morning breakout sessions. After lunch, there will be two additional activities, and the day will conclude with a wrap-up session led by a faculty member.
As an ABET-accredited, leading engineering technology college, Morrison Tech is committed to promoting STEM education. “ Last year’s Homeschooled STEM Day was a tremendous success, and we’re thrilled to bring it back again this year,” said President Scott. “It’s more important than ever to expose students to STEM careers, and we’re excited to offer this opportunity specifically for homeschooled students, helping them connect with hands-on experiences in engineering and technology.
