The Student Government organization at Morrison Institute of Technology will host an American Red Cross blood drive on Halloween, Monday, Oct. 31.

The event is set for 10 a.m.-3 p.m. in the Tech Center’s Parkinson Auditorium on Morrison Tech’s campus at 701 Portland Ave.

During the
event, participants can either donate whole blood or “double red cells.” A double red cell donation collects the red cells but returns most of the plasma and platelets to the donor. These donors must meet specific eligibility requirements and have type A Neg, B Neg, or O blood.

A donor can give:

  • Whole blood every 56 days.
  • Double red cells every 112 days, up to three times per year.

(If more than one donation type is donated, this will affect the number of allowable donations per year due to red cell and plasma loss limit guidelines. Final eligibility will be determined by the American Red Cross at the time of donation.)

To schedule an appointment at Morrison Tech, donors can either call 815.535.8408 or go to http://www.redcrossblood.org/give/drive/driveSearchList.jsp?zipSponsor=0401814.
