Mock Interviews Held at Morrison Tech

You never get a second chance to make a good first impression. This statement holds especially true when it comes to interviewing. What began as an atmosphere of tension gradually gave way to a feeling of poise and confidence during Morrison Tech’s 2018 “Mock Interview” Days. On December 6th and 7th approximately 60 students participated in interviews with companies that hire Morrison Tech graduates. All students at the college were invited to interview with a company that recruits in their field of study. The event was due to the efforts of Scott Connelly, Career and Student Services Director. “The mock interview is a win-win-win. Students get feedback and experience, employers get a sense of the talent pool available, and the college gets feedback on student preparedness and employer needs. I would like to again thank the companies who participated. Connection to industry is one of the keys that make our programs so successful.”
There are many benefits to a mock interview
- Reduces anxiety about the interview process
- Allows you to reflect on your skill set, experiences/accomplishments and industry knowledge as it relates to your job of interest
- Gain awareness of verbal and non-verbal cues that could be beneficial or damaging in an interview
- Exposure to common interview questions and methods
- Receive interviewing feedback, tips and suggestions
- Practice makes perfect
The timing of the event was ideal. Several students will be graduating in December while others are searching for internships over their winter break and next summer. For those students graduating in the Spring of 2019 this event gave them the opportunity to network with possible employers and explore various career paths offered in their field. Morrison Tech strongly promotes and supports the professional growth and preparedness of its students. This is one of the reasons Morrison Tech graduates are so valued by employers.
