Morrison Tech Announces Fifty for 50 Scholarship Campaign
Morrison Institute of Technology is preparing to celebrate 50 years of service! The college will kick off its 50th anniversary during the summer of 2023 beginning with the All-Alumni Class Reunion and continue the celebration throughout the 2023-2024 school year.
In 1973, the college acquired the assets of the Institute of Drafting and Technology located in Morrison, IL and changed their name to the Morrison Institute of Technology. Instrumental in the founding of the college were original board members Richard Parkinson, A.E. Rambo, and Dr. Albert Odey.
The world has changed dramatically over the past 50 years and so has the college. The assumption of the “Morrison Tech” moniker, new buildings and additions, and the addition of a new program, new technologies, and new specializations; but the mission and character of the college has remained the same. A focus on students, passion for our programs, embracing continuous improvement, and stewardship continue the legacy of the original founders.
“As we look back over the past 50 years, we are grateful for the people who came before us who had the foresight to give Morrison Institute of Technology a solid foundation and a clear mission to serve our students and our community.” reflected President Chris Scott.
When the college began, it was seen by many as a grand experiment. A small college offering an 18 month education and an Associate Degree that focused on only two subjects: drafting and construction. The results were more than spectacular. This new design of higher education quickly fostered a student and faculty collaboration that became a place of family, success and innovation. Morrison Tech continues to carry that spirit for learning as the college celebrates 50 years.
“If the past 50 years have taught us anything, it’s that the world needs more places like this. More places dedicated to empowerment, collaboration, creative problem solving, and family. More places that put the student first and prepare them to meet their futures with confidence.” President Scott added.
The 50th anniversary will be marked by new banners and campus features, a new logo has been designed, and the college proudly announces the All Alumni Reunion – Let’s celebrate 50 years! This event has been scheduled for July 15, 2023.
This year we will honor our past, celebrate the present and look forward to the bold future of Morrison Institute of Technology.
