Alumni Impact: Beyond the Degree; Sean Weir ’19

At Morrison Tech, our alumni are making a real difference worldwide. As part of our “Alumni Impact: Beyond the Degree” series, we’re excited to highlight Sean Weir, a 2019 graduate of our Design Drafting (Mechanical) Engineering Technology program, who has already achieved impressive milestones in his early career.

Current Employer and Current Title: 

 I currently sell John Deere equipment as an Ag Sales Rep at Riesterer and Schnell in SE Wisconsin.

Fun Fact: 

I am ambidextrous at all things minus writing and golfing.

How do you feel Morrison Tech helped prepare you for your career? 

Morrison gave me a jump start on my career with a very supportive and knowledgeable staff, a healthy social environment, and connections within our fields. There was always someone to take mentorship from or they could connect you with someone who achieved something you wanted to do and get insight. My mechanical skills, industrial knowledge, and ability to read prints is utilized daily in my line of work. Whether I am working a farm or familiarizing myself with equipment. I also owe it to my friends that I made during my tenure. I am still really good friends with most of them and were even in my wedding or attended. We push each other to be the best we can be every day, helping each other solve problems and celebrate even our smallest victories together.

Favorite memory at Morrison Tech? 

Morrison Tech itself is my favorite memory. There is a charm to MIT that everyone can agree on I think. But if I were just to choose one, it would be the day I was brought into the fold of some second years in my very first semester. I just so happened to walk through the hall of the dorms and stumbled into the group. They asked me to join them in the lobby, we sat and chatted for hours, and it’s been the greatest friendships since. I did the same my second year as well by inviting some newcomers to start a new “generation” and continue to be active within the school. I still have relationships with this group too.
